Throughout his life Titta Ruffo always wanted to manifest his ideals of freedom and justice and was never willing to bow to bullying and oppression. After the assassination of his brother-in-law Giacomo Matteotti he would become even more a staunch opponent of the fascist regime and a fervent democrat.
